2007 WMKA World Seminar:
Soke Nagamine, Sensei Taira and a third Okinawan, to be named at Soke's discretion, will be in St. Louis, MO for a World WMKA Seminar October 26th thru 28th.

Undeniably the most direct wisdom of Grandmaster Shoshin Nagamine presented in the United States since the last gathering of this magnitude 9 years ago. This is a VERY important event not to be missed.

10 years have passed since the death of the Great Grandmaster Shoshin Nagamine - this seminar will be a tribute to him.

The focus of the seminar will be:

  1. Weapons Training
  2. How to use Kata techniques in real-life situations
  3. Formal study of Kata

Location: Seminar will be held at the same hotel where we will be staying in downtown St. Louis. The seminar was just decided Sunday, Feb. 11th, so details are pending, but the seminar is definitely scheduled.

Soke Nagamine mentioned promotions for black belts which will include a written exam. The written test is to show the spiritual substance of Matsubayashi-ryu. 90% of the test questions are in Grandmaster Shoshin Nagamine's books: The Essence of Okinawan Karate-Do and Tales of Okinawa's Great Masters.

Bringing over three Great Sensei is truly PRICELESS...

Now, what we need to support this seminar is $150 per student and we need it by August 15, 2007. We need to purchase 3 round-trip tickets from Okinawa and reserve rooms, as well as the convention hall for classes. Seminar Fees after August 15th, 2007 will be $250. The cost for non-WMKA members is $250. You will be responsible for your travel, hotel and food expenses and travel arrangements. I will reserve a block of hotel rooms once we have a head-count of those attending. These costs are about the same as a two-hour concert for a rock-star ... I'd rather have a weekend with these three karate stars!!

Application and more information will soon follow.

Yours in Karate-Do,

March 3, 2007:
The DoJo rock climb was a huge success! Everyone that came out had a good time. Too bad we couldn't spend more time climbing. I think everyone adequately challenged themself at least one time mentally and physically and had a great time. Sorry, my photographer skipped out on us, so no pics this time. If anyone wants to check out the rock climbing place here is a link to their website: Stoneworks Climbing GymThey are good people, extremely friendly and helpful for all ages, even young kids.

We hope to plan another Dojo outing sometime in late April or early May. Keep checking back for more info.
